Planted on picturesque south-facing slopes of clay and loam, the Deerheart Vineyard lies just five miles from the Pacific Ocean and is bordered by the La Honda Open Space Preserve. We share the fruit from stunning site with Thomas Fogarty wines and it is always fun to drink both wines side by side to compare the hands of the winemaker. This site always produces intense, blue-fruited, and floral Pinot which is also fascinating to compare to the more red fruited Pinot we produce from Mindego Ridge Vineyard which is just up the road.

This wine was recently awarded 95 points by Matthew Luczy of the Wine Advocate and 93 points by Decanter. Luczy writes, “aromas of dried citrus, baking spices and pine needles, with a saline lift that reveals itself with aeration. The palate is a delicious combination of svelte, mouthwatering and concentrated, transitioning into an intense, gripping finish with focused acidity and refined, swelling tannins. It’s a beautiful combination of site, vintage and intentional winemaking.”
