Bald Mountain

This site, at approximately 1000 feet of elevation, is south-sloped white sand Zayante soil - the only vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountain AVA on this rare soil series. In a bold move, Clone 4 chardonnay was planted own-rooted without graft to American rootstock. Just two miles from the Pacific Ocean, the sandy soils and marine influence lead to racy acid-driven and mineral wines of singular character.
